Next Trip: Philippines
If you don’t know, I like to travel. After my trip to Colombia I was wondering where to go next. I was thinking back to an Asian country since that is usually where I travel. Everyone kept telling me to visit Thailand and how amazing it is. Because of that, I automatically chose NOT to go to Thailand.
Pangloa Island (where I do not plan to go)
I had stumbled upon some travel friends online and ask where I should go. Some people from Philippines suggested I go there. The next day I wandered off to the nearby book store and picked up Lonely Planet book on both Philippines and Vietnam (because I like Anthony Bourdain’s Episode on Vietnam). Afterwards I checked on flights on FareCompare for Philippines and the flights were starting at $450 USD round trip to Manila from SFO. At that point I had decided that Philippines is the place for me to go.
Started to do some research and then, seemed like suddenly, an issue in Libya started to occur. At this point all international flights nearly doubled. My flight to Manila was now going to cost me $900+ USD. So I started to look into going back to Colombia; after all I had a lot of fun and meet a lot of people. And some friends were asking me to come back. But flights there too have gone up. (from $400 USD to $800 USD).
So now, I did more research. With the help from a new friend, Jhess, I was able to get a better understanding of Philippines and convince myself that was where I was to go. For the past few months I put a lot of time into researching Philippines.
As you know I try not to hit tourist spots but rather like to go where locals go. So I looked into the places most tourists dont go. With them help of some advice from GogoBot and TravellersPoint I was able to get some good sound advice. I even mapped out where I was thinking of going.
I am planning my trip during September, which is in the middle of the rain season. I hope that there is not too much rain to ruin the trip. But I hope I can enjoy some beaches, and if not at least just sit and relax and meet some great people.
Day 1 - Taipei
First day, left SFO with no hitches. Despite how unorganized the boarding process was. but still go in, and I was in no hurry to sit down and wait. The flight was LONG. I tried not to sleep so that I could get used to the time in India, but my heavy eyes defeated me. One good thing is that the diabetic meals were actually diabetic safe. I haven’t had plain yogurt in ages and it was a real treat when I had it for my breakfast.
7 more hours from now I should be landing in Delhi. It will be fun there.

I still haven’t gotten any request for souvenirs. What do you people want?
31 More Days!!! - Leh
Yeah that is right. 31 more days until I leave to Delhi, the first stop before I head off to Leh, India. Delhi happens to be the Capitol of India and has lots of culture and things to do. It is also known for being very smelly, dirty, having tricksters, touts, and con artists. There are some good things about Delhi, including the food and the sights to see. Here are some fantastic pictures of some of the wonders of Delhi found from Trekearth.com. Hoping to get some good photos myself.
Anyone have any good suggestions of a good place to take some photos in Delhi? Let me know where you favorite place to take photographs in Delhi are. Or let me know of an awesome area I should visit.
