Beach and Cabanas of Puerto Colombia - Barranquilla, Colombia

When going to Barranquilla for Carnaval I was told to check out the neighboring town of Puerto Colombia. Because of the prices of stay in Barranquilla was so expensive I found a great way to stay for cheaper during the peak period of Carnaval. I stayed in Puerto Colombia Instead. As you can see it was a good choice. It was secluded, beautiful, relaxing and of course a lot cheaper. This is one of the beaches of Puerto Colombia in the Miramar Barrio. It was down the street from where I was staying.

When taking this photo at sunset, I was thinking on focusing on the colors so I went for a long exposure. I waited for the light to get darker but not too dark. This was taken about 6:30pm as the sun was setting and the light was dwindling down, but there was too much light still to allow a silky light from the sky and water, so neutral density filters were used to create a longer exposure. I used a tripod and trigger as well as used my camera on Bulb mode. Colors were enhanced in post production and some of the shadows were lightened as well. I took advantage of my camera’s live-time to check the exposure.
