Performer at Barranquilla’s Carnaval - Colombia
I was invited to photograph Barranquilla’s Carnaval in Colombia. It is one of the largest festivals in South America. It is all day and night festival lasting for 4 days. The most famous is the first day, known as Battle of the Roses, this is where many companies and organizations put on great shows during a grand parade with extravagant floats. This is one of the performers during the Battle of Roses day one parade.
The area set up for photographers was not good as the light was harsh. By breaking the rules I went straight into the parade to catch this amazing subject in the shade rather than the harsh light that would have left shadows on the beautiful face of this young lady. A flash was also used to fill in light on the darker shadows that occurred naturally
